Celebrities and charity

What do you think of celebrities who endorse charities or do charity concerts/appeals etc? Does it make you think "oh that's nice" or do you get cynical thinking they should donate themselves instead of asking others?

Do you think many of them get involved in charities for PR reasons or because they might be getting freebies - or do many do it genuinely out of the goodness of their hearts?

Has the public's attitudes to celebrities mixing with charities hardened, since the days of Live Aid?

My mum was genuinely surprised that celebs on shows like "Celebrity Chase" get an appearance fee, she thought they all did it from the goodness of their hearts. Sorry mum.

I don't think they should get an appearance fee for things like celebrity gameshow's, as its free publicity for them, but I don't have an issue generally with celebs being the face of charities. They may be donating themselves, but also using their celebrity to raise awareness of the charity, which jeans more donations from the public, hopefullyas well as the celeb.

In my personal opinion I feel like they shouldn't take any money if its for charity, wither it's for being on charity shows, doing commercials, doing sports etc, it should all be done totally free

An for the ones that's doing commercials that are monthly fees, personally I feel they should be signed up to those charity's themselves, if they are asking me to sign up to pay monthly then I expect them to be signed up as well

I'd like to imagine many would donate an be signed up to donating monthly an I have no problem with that but if they don't do anything an are asking others for money then I don't think it's right nor should they be taking anything for doing whatever
