Hi guys I’m off to Cyprus 2 weeks today, flying into paphos.

heard mixed replies from people some people are saying no where takes cash anymore Over there since covid, but have also heard a few people say the restaurants etc only really want cash? Don’t want to change a load of euros up and then have to change it all back!

also I’ve never been before, I’m staying in the sofianna resort & spa which I believe is near the harbour? So if anyone has any restaurant suggestions that would be fab. Would like to try the local food out as much as possible! Seen there are a few archaeological sites around there too so will explore them!

Sadly we are only there for 4 days heard the beaches are pretty naff that side of the island but planning a day trip to the blue lagoon but open to suggestions for the best place to day trip for those gorgeous blue seas!

Hi, I have not any experience about Cyprus but I just wanted to say, if you come across a EuroNet cash machine (they have them all over Europe, I saw one in Greece so maybe they have in Cyprus) - AVOID!!! The exchange rate/commission for those machines is hideous!

I have a starling bank account that I reserve for holiday spending. They don’t charge for spending or withdrawals abroad and use the MasterCard exchange rate with no added fees. Seems really simple.

Haven’t had chance to actually use it abroad yet but the app is really easy to use and sending money to and from the account is really easy so so far so good. I don’t plan on taking cash when we go to Majorca next year, just the starling card, but if I did need cash I could just withdraw some.

Trip advisor is great for checking out local places near your hotel. I search by highest rating and go from there.

Fab thanks guys think I’m going to take a mixture of bit of cash & some on my card! Xx

Good idea with the ratings too! Hoping to find some lovely seafood ones right by the harbour! X
