Carpet beetles

I’ve created a thread as I was clogging up an unrelated thread with my carpet beetle woes.

I sprayed 3 rooms today with indorex for the first time as advised by @charlied0106 . One room was the bathroom where I randomly found some behind the toilet the other week. It’s a windowless room with no carpet whatsoever. I’ve just gone to run a bath and found a dead one in the bath 😫🥴

Unrelated to carpet beetles but I used indorex in my house just over a year ago as my cat had a really bad flea infestation and I was getting bitten etc fast forward to this autumn and for the first time in around 15 years we are completely free of clothes moths! No sign so far, so take of that what you will.

Thank you. That makes me feel a bit more positive 😆

Weirdly, I just found one in my spare bedroom on the wall 😩
My work colleague was saying the other day there she had found a couple, and that made me think of you. Unfortunately they are so common now, that could just be a rogue one that has came in from outside though. I still steam every week, and I spray the indorex every 6 months. It's getting done this weekend! The fear never leaves lol

So true. I’m now on high alert again. Yay 😓 I’ve just sprayed indorex in the room in found it in, but I’ll have to do the whole house!

Edit. Did your colleague know what they were straight away?

No, she was moaning about finding "cute wee beasties" on her room window sill every couple of days! I just knew from the word go thats what it was. Awful things. She's going to indorex at the weekend.

Just start the indorex again, and stop any alive/hatching. Break the cycle. This is the worst time of year for them.

Indorex every 6 months, whether you see them or not, they can lie in a 'sleep' cycle for months. I do April and October usually (late this year, which is annoying). Touch wood, nothing so far, but I just know one will jump up and wave at me when I least expect it 🤣

They aren’t cute when they’re munching through your expensive knitwear 🤣
Ok, noted, I’ll do April to October. Do you spray once a month over those months? Just ordered more indorex and cedar spray 🤞
