Car bump in car park

Hey guys
I need some advice. I bumped a car in a car park trying to get into a space. Once I realised, I went and parked up then went to write a note with my phone number on it. I checked my car and there was a scuff on it that wiped off. The car i bumped looked in a similar situation. Unfortunately as I returned to the car to leave the note, the driver had arrived and they were about to drive off. I could have ran and knocked on the window but I wasn't sure what to do and just went into the coffee shop opposite.
I have checked on Google and it says I should report to the police via an online form. Is this right? There was minimal damage but I obviously do not want to commit a crime. I'm more than happy to pay out if needed as it was my mistake - I misjudged the space and just caught the car!
Thanks!

Nahhh don’t worry about it! That’s what happens in car parks and plenty of cars would get scuffed at some point, my mum done the same thing the other day and it played on her mind for 3 days and all my dad came home from work he said deny everything and move on 😂 don’t beat yourself up we’ve all bumped and scraped cars at some point!

Honestly I could have rushed to speak to them but I was so concerned they would kick off and get super angry that I froze a bit. The car park has CCTV so I'm just scared I'll get done for a hit and run and get in a load of trouble.

Most car parks have cctv so unless the person notices it and investigates i wouldn't worry, if it’s a dusty scuff that can be wiped off most people wouldn’t even notice!

My husband thought the same as your mum, it was a tiny scratch that rubbed off. NINE!!! months later the Police came to the door and he was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Had to go to court and got 5 points and £200 fine. Couldn’t deny it cause apparently someone else in the car park took down his details and phoned the Police.

Really? What the duck! Luckily the parking down my parents close had no cameras but Iv bumped lots of cars in really tight car parks and just drove away out of embarrassment 😂
