Yes I did think it could be crohns/colitis but I thought this would have been picked up on years ago.

Digestive issues can take years to develop or develop overnight. It can happen at any age.
I got diagnosed with diverticulitis in my late 30’s. And the specialist was surprised as according to him I’m very young to have it. It’s normally seen in OAP’s 🫠

My husband has bowel cancer, he had visual blood in his poo as his only symptom.
Your relative is in the system now, she will likely be told at the colonoscopy if it's cancer or not. Although they can't give specifics, a tumour is generally obvious.
Its all very scary, but there are loads of treatment options if it is cancer.

My nana started experiencing a bad stomach in December, and blood in her stool early Jan ...Bowel cancer. She had an operation, chemo. She has recently been told they can not see any cancer, and given her the option to stop chemo now, or complete the course. Its a hard situation, but things do move fast if it is that.

Sorry if this is not the right place. I have a relative in her early 60s who went to the gp with stomach pain and unexplained weigh loss. Her fit test has shown blood in her stool so she now needs a colonoscopy. Has anyone been through similar and had a good outcome? I don’t have a good feeling about this at all.

There are a LOT of digestive issues with the same symptoms. My partner has colitis and these are the same symptoms he had, also Crohns disease cause this.

My Dad had bowel cancer and his only symptom at the time was stomach pain. He didn’t have any blood in his stools or weight loss but his colonoscopy found a tumour.

There could be other reasons for your relatives symptoms, so try not to jump to the worst case scenario.

Sorry to hear about your dad. The colonoscopy is next week so not long to wait but in the meantime you can’t help but Google things
