Can you bake a cake with malteasers in the mixture?!

Hey,

Probably a weird request but I really fancy making a cake with malteasers in, but I can't find a recipie anywhere. All I can find are normal cakes with malteasers on the top as decoration.

Has anyone got a recipie? Or is there some weird reason you can't bake malteasers, will they all sink to the bottom or something?

Thanks!

Rather than baking them through the cake batter you could roughly crush them up through the buttercream, that way you wouldn't compromise the malteser but you'd get more texture and flavour than you would if they were just a decoration.

Ooh this sounds delicious.

Just add some malt like ovaltine and chocolate instead of using the sweets, that'll work

Malteaser in a cake mixture seems like a weird texture, i'm sure you could do a malty filling or buttercream frosting though.

You're talking to a girl who likes marmalade and crisp sandwiches!

Thanks everyone, think I will make a normal cake with ovaltine in the mixture and crushed malteaaers in the icing! Yummmmm

This isn't a cake , but I keep meaning to make this.....

As others have said , if you put malteasers in a cake mix the , the chocolate will likely melt and you'll just be left with the honeycomb centre.
Google cake recipe using Ovaltine that would give it the malteasers taste, or maybe in a blondie recipe malteasrs might actually work .
