s I finally bring you news from Waterstones…
So first up it was pretty quiet. My friend and I have been to a few events at Waterstones, and this was by far the emptiest. The photos shared on the official Waterstones account make it look busier than it was, but usually there’s not enough room to swing a cat and the seats are much closer together. Or maybe whoever set up the chairs put them a little further apart but my friends exact words were “half my arse wasn’t on the next door neighbour”.
The actual interview was nothing to note apparently, but my friend did say she can’t guarantee she didn’t nod off

But the highlight was afterwards during the signing. Now obviously, they don’t make people sign on their knee, they have a table setup with a stack of books etc. So Taming Twins naturally is signing and chatting with people, but babs had no clue what to do with herself because there wasn’t a table or anything setup for her. It wasn’t her event so why would there be? But babs seemed to just hang around “like a fart on Christmas Day”. She seemed very anxious, didn’t come across as approachable but then when the few who did approach her (and I’ve been led to believe it was only a handful) Babs switched it on to a loud star of the show oh you want a pic with little old me type.
My friend is what she calls “reformed big girl”. She lost a fair bit of weight (ironically following Weight Watchers which long term cowbags will remember from previous babs meltdowns), and said she reckons babs in the wild is possibly a 26 if she took the spandex off. I’m not convinced she’d be more than a 22, but “she looks like she’s been stung by a stripy
bleep and ballooned the
duck up” (stripy
bleeps being wasps).
My friend also reckons the whole asked to sign books thing is a lie as well (I mean, don’t we all?) as one minute babs was awkwardly walking around, the next she had a sharpie and was signing the books on the table (all 3 of them). I’m off into town later so I’ll see if I can find them; I can’t imagine there’s been a massive run on them
That’s all I really got. I’m hoping for photos when I’m next in the office without things being on fire, but that’s what I have from WhatsApps
