jfc. that post on the bbc100women IG account is the absolute last thing babs needs! talk about fuelling her narcissism! she's now taking full credit for "INVENTING" a well-known quote WHICH HAS LITERALLY EXISTED ALL OVER GOOGLE FOR YEARS. the whole "how to get a bikini body: buy a bikini and put it on your body" quote is plastered all over the internet - on SM, in articles and memes. it's a quote which has been used to condemn the idea that there is such a thing as a "bikini body" ever since the terms "bikini body" and "summer body" and the promotion of bikini body diets came into existence. it would be like babs claiming credit for the very similar quote; "every body is a bikini body".
literally type "bikini body" into google - as babs obviously did when writing her original post - and your screen is filled with those exact words, verbatim. whoever first uttered that phrase is not even referenced because it's such a standardised, overused phrase, literally included in articles entitled "swimsuit & bathing suit quotes" which give inspirational suggestions for "bikini captions for instagram". essentially, babs whacked "bikini body quotes" into google, copied the most over-used, well known bikini body themed quote - because she's hardly the best as creativity - and pasted it into her post, and is now lapping up credit. the way they've quoted her quoting a phrase which is undoubtedly available to buy in shops like the range carved into a
bleeping plaque, like those hideous "live, laugh, love" signs - as though babs wouldn't be frothing at the mouth of she'd spotted one of those and eagerly bought it to display in her kitchen during the summer, alongside her equally tacky "calories don't count!" sign. she hardly needs to print the quote out and "put it in a little frame" when she can put less effort into buying it printed on a
bleeping t-shirt!
next thing we know, she'll be selling mugs and tote bags featuring that quote, with her name listed underneath as though they were her original words - AS THOUGH THOSE PRODUCTS DON'T ALREADY EXIST. or were they somehow "inspired" by babs, in a weird situation where other people foresaw a phrase that Emma Conway hadn't yet invented, and quickly plastered her words all over tat to rip her off before the quote had even been attributed to her!
i fully predict babs' knock-off versions of will be released soon - available in the form of quotes, mugs and stickers, with all proceeds going to BABS - inventor of such an original quote...
