This case disgusts me, experts have said the injuries she have leave them in no doubt that she was raped. And now facing a year in jail as the Cypriot police forced her to say she's lying. Why would they do this to protect the 12 Israeli guys? Why doesn't Boris Johnson do something? I will never go to Cyprus again!

I’m not just reading UK papers. I am yet to read something credible to suggest this woman was given a fair trial or that due process was followed in the aftermath of what happened to her.

The thing is, none of us know without all the hard facts in front of us. It’s easy to play judge and jury when you only know little bits of information fed to you by the media. This video that’s apparently going around could be of anyone.
My personal belief if that she didn’t lie. Doesn’t mean that I’m right, that’s just what I believe. I think of myself at her age (I know, everyone is different) but I would never have allowed something like that to happen to me willingly.

Thats what I don’t understand- why is our government not doing anything to help or mediate? It’s scary.
I feel sorry for the poor girl and was disgusted to read comments on the daily mail that were in agreement if her facing a prison term for “lying”. Poor girl has been through enough already.

Where did you see these videos? How do you know they are legit?
What about all the marks that experts said indicated rape? Unless you saw it all you don't know the full story.

Even if it’s her in the video and even if she has previously had sex with more than one guy at once, it does not mean the incident she reported did not happen.
The people sharing these clips on whatsapp should be ashamed of themselves. If you want to watch videos of young white girls getting banged by middle eastern men, by all means fine, knock yourself out (literally) - I’m sure there’s a YouPorn drop down menu for that. No need to inflict even more trauma on this poor girl.

In a small piece of good news, The Times are reporting today that she will receive police support and care as a sex crime victim so hopefully that will help her to recover.
So it would be a crime to even watch the real footage or have it on your whatsapp messages...
Ironically I have read that the “real” video has been removed from a lot of sites because some of the boys in it are underage

James O'Brien on lbc has story after story about how corrupt the Cypriot police are. Filipino women saying their Cypriot employer has sexualy attacked them and told to go away. A Cypriot guy wanking outside an apartment that hits British girls then when they phone up the police they say they can't come out and when they swear they then say they will charge them for swearing at police.
This country needs to be boycotted.

I absolutely believe she was raped. Those videos prove nothing and those sharing them around should be absolutely ashamed (and also worried as allegedly some of the men involved were under age themselves). Consenting to one, two, three or four men does not mean you then automatically consent to a further 8 of them. The situation sounds so horrific, I find it hard to believe any woman of sound mind would willingly put themselves into a situation like that. The thought of the power imbalance alone makes my heart hurt for her.
I only saw a 5 minute extract on the news at ten directly before and found that upsetting enough. What a horrific thing to go through. I absolutely believe her, it’s not a value judgement or moral position it’s because it seems so much more likely to be true.

He has looked at all available information and says there’s no doubt the case was totally mishandled from the start. Also obvious but important to remember. True, but it still passed for true in the Cypriot court meaning even in the UK the first many people heard of this case “a girl was found guilty of lieing about gang rape.” People hear ‘found guilty’ in a short bulletin with no time for context and confuse it for ‘true’.
Plus having an expert in the field attached to her cause is simply helpful . This whole story is so tragic partly because she seemed so alone out there..for.a 19 year old girl, being gang raped, bullied by the police and spending a month in a Cypriot prison... it’s unimaginable(plus wasn’t she stuck in the country for months?).
And the fact the expert is a man, I hate to say will provide more credibility to a certain type of person. The type that buy into the misogynistic fallacy that stupid little girls lie about rape for attention. Plenty of those in the Cypriot justice system I'm willing to bet.
And she will need all the support she can get if she is to find justice.
