Hi! I live just outside Brighton and was in town last weekend, the covid rules are pretty much out of the window so most places will be easy enough to get into- just don't say you're a hen do and you'll be fine. I would also recommend the Mesmerist and Bohemia, they both have good music and they're away from West St! Also if the weather is good then I would 100% recommend Revenge Rooftop- you can't book but it is great (depending on what you're looking for, it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea)

@righthererightnow - what is Mrs Fitzherberts like? It looks like I can reserve a table for 2 hours from 21:00-23:00 but I need to pay a deposit of £50. I won’t bother if it’s unlikely we’ll want to stay for more than a drink!
Its pretty fun, but definitely not on a similar vibe to Plotting Parlour. There's loads of covered outside seats which are on quite a busy road and next to a bar called Mash Tun which is loud and fun but slightly dingy. As most of the tables are outside, you may be approached by people asking for money but they are very harmless. There might be tables upstairs / inside which you can book but the outside is busier and good for people watching. If you're in dresses and heels i might avoid it. If its more chilled then give it a go! Hope that helps

I’m organising a friend’s hen weekend in Brighton and post-pandemic this is proving really difficult. Just wondered if any fellow Tattlers could help with my Saturday night planning…

There will be 8 of us and the bride would like to do a bar crawl/cocktail run instead of a club. Do I need to book a table at all venues or are there still places we can walk into? I’ve tried to make reservations online at some bars but they won’t let you book for more than 6 and there are no bookings to be made after 8pm.

At this rate we’ll be buying a box of wine from Tesco and drinking it on the beach! Recommendations on bars - particularly those that allow walk-ins would be much appreciated! 🙏
I live in brighton. What area are you looking at? Central town? Beach? Laines or a mix? Fancy or budget friendly?

We’re having a drink at The Plotting Parlour before dinner which is at VIP Pizza. We’re staying near the station.

Really don’t mind on location as long as it’s walkable as don’t want to start having to herd people into taxis! I loved the look of the Fallen Fairy Cocktail Bar at the Music Hall but they say they don’t allow hen parties (even though we’d not be the raucous type) and aren’t taking bookings after 8pm.

Thank you for replying!
The Plotting Parlour and VIP Pizza are excellent choices!

I would recommend calling up and booking a table instead of online. Say its a birthday instead of a hen do. I worked in brighton bars for years and a lot of venues are wary of both stag and hen dos as brighton is known as a "party place". If you're not wearing fancy dress you should have no issues at all by pretending its a birthday.

Bars / pubs i would recommend in brighton centre: The Mesmerist (often have live music), Bohemia, Merkaba (a bit fancier), Seven Stars, the Walrus, Black Lion. These are all within walking distance from each other and im sure you can book them.

The Music Hall is huge and has plenty of seats so you should be okay just turning uo to that one.

Definitely stay away from West Street bars.

Thank you, that’s really good advice. I’ve been to Brighton quite a few times so know of some good places but not been since before the pandemic so unsure what is still open and rules etc.

Will try and do some phoning tomorrow and stick to the birthday line as you suggested.

Thanks @righthererightnow and @Flower29 - good to know we can turn up and have a hope of getting in. I’ve planned an itinerary with times for the rest of the weekend but felt it would be much nicer to freestyle the evening drinks. A bar crawl isn’t much fun if I have to clock watch and herd people around, plus the constant paying of deposits is really annoying! Very grateful for your insight and suggestions.
