Morning everyone 👋🏼

I started reading Black Cake last night. I’m only about 15% in but I’m enjoying it so far.

I'm about 60% through on audible but my headphones (that I just bought!) seem to be broken. So Im going to have to take them back this weekend.

Last week I finished The Go-Between by L.P. Hartley and Boys in Zinc by Svetlana Alexievich. I gave them both 5 stars on Goodreads. The Go-Between is now in my all time favorites 😍i loved how we read from a perspective of a child throughout the book and loved the mythological references. I started a non-fiction book « Sex and Punishment » by Eric Berkowitz and I only read 100 pages so far but its one of the easiest antropological works i have read so far. I’m looking forward to read « Kim Jiyoung,Born 1982 » it’s really popular on YouTube and Instagram and I am really intrigued😍

I finished The Paper Palace - it was a good read.

I burned the midnight oil last night and stayed up reading Faking Friends by Jane Fallon - an enjoyable easy read

just marking my place too, and really sad that i missed the a little life conversation in the end of the last thread! some really great posts on it - it’s a weird book for me because i love it but also agree with every piece of criticism i read about it, which i’ve never had before 🤣

i also bought the paper palace today! is it officially our june bookclub book?

I had the same with a little life actually. Can relate to both the positive and negative opinions on it 😅

glad it’s not just me 🤣 i read it at the same time as a friend and she said “i hate it, they’re all so shallow and all these endless descriptions of designer labels and everyone is so gifted and tragic and beautiful, it’s awful” and i said “i know… i love it” 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think we will have to have a vote as normal as not everyone on the book club is here!

Completely agree on the love and hate for a little life!

I started A Taste of Ginger yesterday by Mansi Shah, its been on my kindle for ages and I just picked at random yesterday and that came out. Has anyone read it? I have found it quite easy to read so far, I think I'm about 40% in but it is quite an interesting insight into the Indian culture and the effect of emigrating to America.

Bought this last night, I'm hoping for good things.
Thought about it for a while but the overall positive reviews swung it for me.

Also I saw your post at the end of the last thread @marjan but the thread closed before I could reply.

I read Everything I Know About Love a couple of years back, absolutely loved it. I think I flew through it in about 3 nights, so relatable and funny.
