A thread to discuss any and all board games following on from @GBNI post.

I know this was in query to computer games, but any recommendations for 2 player games? We already have Uno and Shut the Box. Extra points if they’re travel friendly 😁
2 player and they are small or have travel versions - Hive, Mind, Qwirkle, Bananagrams, Cobra Paw, Yahtzee, Qwinto, Cluster, Roll For It, Azul

General favourites of mine are - Takenoko, Jaws, Patchwork, Latice, Ticket To Ride, Whitehall Mystery, Chronicles of Crime

I ended up selling Chronicles of Crime as we could never solve it. :ROFLMAO: It's a really good format though with the board and the app.

Not a board game, but me and my husband really enjoy the 'escape room at home' type games - Exit and Unlock are 2 brands.

We had the Exit advent calendar last year and it was really fun to do a little puzzle every day in December. A nice thing to do as a couple after dinner each day.

I loved Cluedo so much when I was a kid! When we went on a big family holiday we all played Uno, that’s such a good game! I really like playing Scrabble on my phone but don’t enjoy it as an actual board game, funnily enough. I’ve only played Monopoly once or twice, really loved it though.

Monopoly is my favourite board game of all time. As kids our longest game was over 3 hours.

Big fan of Rapidough, Articulate and the old favourite Scrabble!
Growing up we would play a game called tummyache. Don't know if it's still around but as a kid I loved it.

I added Chronicles of Crime but reading your comment there I realised I was thinking of the Exit games 🤦🏻‍♀️ we still have CoC but it’s one that’ll be sold/charity shopped when I have a clear out as we’ve not gone back to it. I need to have a sort out/move around of the shelves where they are stored as I tend to reach for the same ones!
I love the sound of the Exit advent calendar I’ll have a look for that for this Christmas, thank you!
Have you played the Mystery Agency escape games? Created by Henry Lewis of Mischief Theatre (The Play That Goes Wrong, Comedy About a Bank Robbery etc) they are pretty expensive so we’ve only played one but it was really good.

Mischief Movie Night In was such a good distraction during lock down!
The game we’ve done is The Vanishing Gambler and I want to try Ghost In The Attic next. Christmas present to myself at £45 though!

Yes that’s the one. It sounds good on paper but also pretty similar to cluedo (which I like). Looking for something along the same lines but don’t want to buy it if it’s essentially the same game. Any other recommendations welcome

I have it but only played through twice so far. It does have a similar vibe to Cluedo but different enough that I’d recommend it. Whitechapel mystery is a hidden movement game so not exactly like Cluedo but I think you’d like it if you enjoy Cluedo

This link has a few recommended -

I’ve not played Betrayal at House on the Hill yet but friends of mine really enjoy it. Chronicles of Crime is on that list though and personally I don’t rate that one!

I think we've only played it once, but as a 2 - we'll need to try it out with more people.
I think it was ok, it was a while ago we played it.

We've bought this for Christmas, Ghosted Game | WHSmith, but got it a bit cheaper in our local Home Bargains. Not played it yet, but reading the rules it seems to be a mix between Cluedo and Guess Who. Everyone is dead, and you've got to guess who killed you, with what and why.

Has anyone played Dream Phone? I used to love playing that 1 with my sister when we were kids, so much fun!!!

That sounds like a blast from the past! Cluedo was my jam too – solving mysteries and all that. Uno is such a classic for big gatherings, isn’t it? i also used to play like league of legends as well :)
