My Sister in law turns 30 in September, I had booked tickets for us to see Wicked in London but obviously that isnt going to happen now.
Anyone got any other ideas for a unique 30th present?

It's been my 2 best friends 40ths since lockdown. I was going to buy us theatre tickets but didn't want to risk it, so got them both theatre vouchers and a note that it's for us to book a London day trip when things are open again

I would highly recommend afternoon tea at the Ritz. I took my mum a few years ago for her birthday and it was so special. It’s worth the price tag. It’s a beautiful experience, they have a pianist in the Palm Court and you really are treated like royalty. You get plenty of tea cakes and sandwiches; I was concerned it might be a bit limited but honestly they keep everything topped up without you asking.

For my best friend's 30th a few years ago I made her a CD of all the songs that were number one on her birthday each year. We were also music mad in the late 90s/early 00s so I managed to find a few copies of Smash Hits magazine and the Now album from her favourite year.

Also as we are big kids, I got her an old style pick n mix and other favourite snacks and put everything in a hamper basket

if you have access to a garden you could arrange a socially distanced cinema night with her favourite film, popcorn and snacks etc
and that way you would spending time together aswell

you would just need a projector and a white sheet on a steady washing line
and some bean bags or comfy chairs

What sort of stuff is she into? This year I’m buying my friend a ticket for us to climb the o2 together. there are lots of fun/different things to do in London if that’s where you wanted to go, someone has already mentioned afternoon tea, there are lots of different ones around. Sketch is a cool restaurant. Junkyard golf or putt shack for an activity.

To be fair I want to avoid london 😂. Wicked is good because its right by the train station so don't have to go into London.

Hey so don't know if this is okay to post on here but it's my nieces birthday soon and she's turning 11 I genuinely have no idea what to get her.. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas? Gets harder as they get older and don't play with toys anymore I think 🤣 and because of lockdown too cos I haven't seen her in so long to know what she's into right now just feel a bit stuck for ideas 🤣 thanks in advance xx

At that age I would have loved vouchers for Primark or Topshop etc. Young teens always love new clothes.

depending on what your budget is, Instax mini cameras are always popular, Bluetooth headphones or speaker, kindle, a gift box from somewhere like Lush, bits for her room (cushions, lights, fluffy blankets etc). Just some ideas x

Wow this is weird I've actually just ordered her a instax mini camera cos I think she would like that 🤣 feel like my sister will tell me off for spending too much money but oh well, just gonna get a couple other little things at the shops. Thanks they were good ideas xxx

Does she like reading?
Stationery/pens/notebooks/etc.
A board game or jigsaw
If she’s into a specific thing you could get one of those magazine subscriptions for the year

For 30th, I would say a spa day or Afternoon tea - something memorable.
Look on https://www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk for some good ideas.
For the person looking for ideas for her niece, go on the above website too. There is a driving experience, my daughter did it at 13 and loves it, the instructors are so good with her. It was 30 mins driving and it gets them into good practice when they go on the road for real in years to come.

I agree with the afternoon tea ideas. For my 40th I went to the Signet Library in Edinburgh, it was even more amazing than any photos you can find online! So perhaps look at https://afternoontea.co.uk/uk/ find somewhere near by? Perhaps a gift voucher for it, so then she can go any time.
