Specific thread to discuss the story of Beth Martin, a mum of two who passed away in Turkey under suspicious circumstances. Following a second autopsy in the UK it has been alleged that her heart had been stolen from her body.
I never knew this, that’s very interesting!Oh and the last thing, that was odd, in the version of events Ive read they said the hospital wanted to cremate her but then cremation is illegal in Turkey so there wouldn't even be the facilities there to do that?
Interesting, literally in the last hour.just had a look at the GFM and it says donations have been suspended now?
Good, so they should beAlways strikes me as odd that these GFMs that generate huge amounts of money (this one, Jay Slater, Archie Battersbee, etc) seem to have been set up in a very dubious way by someone with a tenuous connection to the people involved.
The way they describe the story is always very emotive and probably not a first or even second hand account of what happened. More a combination of Chinese whispers, a lot of elaboration and very little truth.
It doesn't help that there is often a language barrier involved, and people seem to think that all countries medical/police/legal services should function like ours do in the UK. There's no mention of any consular assistance in the GFM. I used to work in that field and we would have been all over a case like this. I feel for this lady's family and especially her children, but this story just feels like it's being stretched so far, it's basically elastic.
Edit, just had a look at the GFM and it says donations have been suspended now?
All of this!!! You've summed up and articulated a lot of my thoughts on this.Always strikes me as odd that these GFMs that generate huge amounts of money (this one, Jay Slater, Archie Battersbee, etc) seem to have been set up in a very dubious way by someone with a tenuous connection to the people involved.

Yeah, I also had a look at the husband and wifes facebooks (they are super locked down) but GFM creator hasn’t liked any of the posts. I know that doesn’t necessarily mean anything but if you were close enough to set up a fundraiser for someone you’d think they’d have atleast liked the post of her starting up a new business.Something else striking me as odd on the GFM, aside from the fact donations have been turned off, is that the person who set it up hasn't even mentioned his connection to the family? There's a lot of parts of this that don't add up re stolen heart gate
Its just too long and detailed isn't it, as though to cover up the liesSomething else striking me as odd on the GFM, aside from the fact donations have been turned off, is that the person who set it up hasn't even mentioned his connection to the family? Very strange how they've said they wanted to cremate her yet its illegal in turketThis is on gov.uk , occams razor would suggest they've taken the heart during the post mortem and kept it for further testing. Trying to bury her quickly also isn't that odd when you take into consideration that Turkey is a Muslim country and its custom to be buried within 24 hours of death.

Not sure how long but I'm sure it was quite quick as it said they paid out of pocket to get her back ASAP rather than wait for insurance. They had originally questioned the husband about the death hadn't they so maybe once they cleared him they were happy it wasn't suspicious? Also, how long did it take to get the body back to the UK?! It says online if it is a suspicious death it could delay the process by 3 months!! Surely this is a suspicious death?!
Maybe he explained they'd just got there, ate/drank the same things etc so if she got sick then he should've if it was suspected to be suspiciousYeah they might have been happy it wasn’t him but surely if they didn’t know the exact cause of death (which we are led to believe is the case) then surely it is suspicious?!such a weird circumstance!
