Haven't read the crime thread so probably just repeating everyone else's points, but the whole case makes no sense to me. Why smuggle weed into Georgia where it's practically legal anyway? Why in such a huge quantity where she was obviously going to get caught - it must have been more than half her checked baggage weight?! How much does weed go for in Georgia that she thought it was worth taking a risk like this, it's not like she was bringing 14 kilos of cocaine and was gonna be set for life? I've heard some people suggest it was ultimately destined for Russia over land, where it is super illegal so maybe would be worth more, but in that case why not get it from Georgia to begin with, instead of taking the extra risk (and expense) of flying someone over from Thailand with it? There aren't even any direct flights from anywhere in SEA to Georgia as far as I know, almost all routes transit through the Middle East, which is an even more stupid region to smuggle drugs into.
