I am looking for a new bed and am majorly struggling to know what would be quality bed versus these 'luxury' bed companies which could be dreadful quality.

I want something like this: https://www.next.co.uk/g612138s6/632249#632249

It's a fine line as to whether it looks nice vs tacky - I realise that.

The Next bed is expensive, as is the equivalent Dreams bed. Other companies are half the price: Arista Living, Luxury Bed a company, eBay etc.

Has anyone got personal experience of whether these cheaper companies make decent quality beds or is it worth splurging for a well known name?

Thanks x

I've only ever bought futons, I've not had a bed for maybe 20+ years or so. However, I had a friend who used to sell very expensive mattresses in a pyramid style set up and they were about 3k each and it was a total swizz and lots of people bought them as well.
If I were you I'd get a reasonably priced one not right expensive and see how you get on with that one first.X

I got my bed (the ottoman style you’ve shown) from a company called Sueno. They were fab. They even send you swatches so you can check the colour and fabric of the bead and headboard. I found they were one of the few companies that did solid bases rather than slatted for the ottoman storage beds. I’ve had mine a few years and it is fab quality x

We bought a bed frame from Dunelm about 6 months ago.

It’s an opening one so you can store stuff underneath. Really happy with it. Think it was about £200.

Obviously ours probably isn’t your taste but they have a good selection. Ours is linked below..

I recently lost days of my life googling beds bought an ottoman bed from a company called Bed Station. I was looking for one very similar to one I'd seen at Next but I felt was a bit pricey.

I went with one called 'Bosworth' in the end, which also comes in a grey fabric like the one you like. It doesn't have the curved headboard edges though. However, I'm fairly sure they had similar ones to the one you like in stock.

Communication was good. Delivery was timely and the bed is really sturdy. Best of all it cost over £400 less that the one from Next!

This company do also sell on ebay but mark the prices up. I did a lot of research before buying and I'd say avoid a huge portion of ebay ones as well as some cheaper firms. They often come without proper sheets/fabric on the base, so your stuff sits directly in the floor instead. The storage space under the bed also tends to be shallower which makes a huge difference to what you can store under it.

Also base wise slats definitely better for an ottoman. Some of the cheaper ones have a fold up panel instead or are advertised as ottomans but actually only have base drawers. This isn't always obvious in the photos and in some cases the companies use photos of other beds in with the actual product.

Thank you so much. I'd not seen that website during my hours of searching before but they've got loads of lovely looking beds. My partner now has his eye on a particular one from there which is half the price of the one I linked and probably even nicer looking. Thanks so much!!!
