Bathroom quote.

I'm trying to get quotes for a new bathroom. It's like getting blood from a stone. But I've got one finally. Well be buying suite and tiles on top. We're in the sw England.

We are in the same boat at the moment.

Don't understand why some fitters takes so long to prepare a quote!

We have been quoted about 6k for removal, reworking pipes and tiling/making good.

We will be supplying all the items except pipes/plaster.

With the materials it is looking like 12k for a bathroom which I just think is excessive?

We did ours in stages on a shoestring budget.

We paid a tiler separately and he only charged £300-£350 for two full days work. He was also a plasterer so filled any damaged parts to the walls, we bought the tiles but he provided the grout and everything else.

We also paid a plumber to install the bath, sink and toilet at an hourly rate.

You can save money by removing the tiles etc yourself.

I’d say that the OP got a good quote there. I’ve been quoted £9000 for my small bathroom

Ours cost 10k in feb. Tiny bathroom with bath and sink and then a small toilet separate. they did supply everything in that

Thanks everyone. So frustrating isn't it. You want to compare 3 or 4 but you can only get 1

This is a decent enough quote. They are doing the rip out for you, if you want to you could do the rip out yourselves to save a bit of money and do dump runs with the waste to save on the price of the skip also. Other than that, it looks fair to me.

We have managed to get 3 quotes for fitting

The fitting for 1 was 8.5k

And the other 2 both around 6-6.5k

Trying to get the materials down a bit without compromising on quality at the moment. But it is still going to be about 12k all in

Thanks guys. Happy with this quote and it was the firm I wanted to go with as they're mates with our electrician who's a friend and they're recommend locally. We're having our house rewired and wanted To get both done at the Same time. It's gonna be an expensive couple of months haha. We're going fairly low to middling on the suite as that's all we can afford and whole house needs work. Most of which we're doing ourself. Such a busy time with work and the kids at the moment for both I think I'll be happier for them to rip out for that price.

Thought you were looking for quotes to put on the wall, I was going to suggest "have a nice poo".

I paid £3200 for a small kitchen to be replaced last year if that helps

Looks similar to quotes I got last year for similar work - also SW England.

I moved so didn’t go ahead with it tho!

I work for a bathroom firm , I do think the quotation is very reasonably priced ..

I think it’s quite expensive as your still supplying all the tiles/sanitary ware for the bathroom. You could save a lot in that if you were able to get the bathroom totally stripped, it’s not a difficult job but can be a messy one. you might find they would give a keener price if all is sitting just ready to plumb/tile

I would also query the materials being over £500 considering your supplying everything else… grout, adhesive, plaster and valves are no where near that price

ETA - just seen your in SW england so that might be good for yous there lol
