Understandably the world is focused on Ukraine at the moment but I’m really surprised to only just find out about the major floods in Australia. Did anyone else have no idea? The stories and images are scary as duck.

I've had the news on all day and only just heard about them as the Sarah's day new thread mentioned floods.
Yet again lots of records are being broken.
The guardian just deleted an article (after hundreds of thousands of views) because it falsely stated that satellite images showed the flood. It was their top read non Ukraine article.

I only knew about it because I am half Australian and all my friends and family are in New South Wales and I have friends in/near Lismore. It’s very scary and concerning, not seen much about it in the UK
I have since posting found out this morning that my family has been affected by the floods. My cousins whole bottom floor is damaged and they have been stuck upstairs without power or phone signal and my aunties town has been flooded but thankfully no damage to their house, just no internet. Huge clean up operation going on there.
