Apple In My Pie

The battery life on the Apple Watch is short, i think mine manages a day before needing to be charged, whereas the Fitbit can go a good few days without needing to be charged. If you’re the type to take your watch off and then forget about it or not put it back on (like me!) it can be a pain. The apple watch does a lot more than the fitbit though - if you have an Apple phone already you can link your debit card to it, texts, calls, so it’s like having a miniature version of your phone on your wrist. The Fitbit and Apple Watch both track the same sorts of things - heart rate, steps, flights of stairs climbed, sleep - but the Fitbit goes into slightly more details w/rt the sleep tracking, I feel. Other than that they’re the same.

I’m sure I said this on a similar thread. But if you like the convenience of your phone being there on your wrist and are happy to pay them go for the Apple Watch. If not, go for the Fitbit, and I don’t think you’d be missing out on much.

(I will say though, the area under my wrist where the band sits (on my Apple Watch) absolutely reeks of that sort of, cheesy smell? (sorry if you’re eating breakfast 🤣) After a few days. I have to swap the arm I wear the watch on every now and then and wipe down the band/my wrist gently with some antibacterial gel. The Apple Watch is waterproof but I think if you wash your hands and get water trapped beneath it can cause the whiff. It happens with any watch really but I’ve noticed it more with my Apple Watch than I did my Fitbit.)

I can't answer whether there is much different between the 3 and the 6 as I've only ever had the 6, but with regard to battery life - the max I can get out of my 6 is really about 2 - 2.5 days! It isn't great!
2 days is insane. I have to charge mine every night!!

Mine too! 🤢 I wash under the tap with soap otherwise it’s disgusting
Yes that’s what I do too, the strap and the watch. As disgusting as this sounds, you can even see the sweat on the strap sometimes if you have a light coloured one.

I’ve had an Apple Watch 6 since the start of December and wouldn’t be without it now! I bought it as I was due to have a baby and wanted something to encourage me to be abit more active after as I can be abit of a lazy slob! It’s so handy getting notifications and things on it and my screen time on my phone has gone right down because I’m not constantly checking it!

You know you are over the hill, when you read the title of a thread called Apple watch, and think it is something to do with apples that you eat!

Omg I’m so glad I’m not the only one 😂😂
It’s not nasty and isn’t anything to do with not washing but like somebody else said I think it depends on what strap you have too. I also think it’s to do with how much activity you do and how much you sweat.

That is nasty. I can hands down say that my watch has never made my wrist smell and I don’t know anyone else who has this issue. Either you need to take it off a bit more or you need to wash a bit more.
Fitbit will count putting make up on as steps, hanging out the washing as steps, clapping as steps. It’s not the best tracker for steps. I use to rock my baby to sleep and it use to think I was walking. I queried this with Fitbit and they told me to take the watch off before I did anything that wasn’t walking.

I noticed the same with my strap being a bit smelly. I think I was wearing it too tight though, I've loosened it a little now and it's fine, it's still snug on my wrist. I also anti-bac my strap every night and havent had a problem since. I think it's dependent on the material of strap you have. Mine is the silicone type sports band.

I had a Fitbit for years and got an Apple Watch Series 5 and it’s fab! It’s a lot more accurate than my Fitbit and does a lot more. They’re about £300 now. I opted for the GPS version and sync it with Strava. If you have little wrists you could probably get away with the 38mm screen, mine’s 44mm and it felt massive when I first got it and I would’ve preferred a smaller size but didn’t want to return.

I've had an apple watch 4 and now have the 6. In my opinion, both are great! Both have been the smaller screen and honestly I've never had a problem with either watch. The 6 does a few extra things, but depending on what you want from the watch a 4 or 5 would definitely be sufficient. One thing to know is that the watch does need charging daily, as I think the battery life is something like 18 hours.

I have a Garmin venu sq. it looks a lot like an Apple Watch but the battery life is much better.I only have to charge it every 5 days or so. I’m very happy with it and I am usually Apple all the way! It’s worth checking out Garmin watches.
I’ve just switched from Fitbit to a garmin Venu 2s, after being adamant I was getting an Apple Watch. from reviews it seemed like a great option, with much better battery life and so far I am absolutely loving it. Worth considering unless you’re dead set on apple only

Has anyone gone from an Apple Watch 3 to the current one (6 is it?). I’m thinking of getting a new one sometime soon but don’t know if the 6 is worth the extra money or if I just stick with the 3?
I don’t assume the battery life is that much better?

Hello, first thread post here hope I’m doing it right 😊.

I’m on the fitness kick and also need a present idea for my 21st so am looking at getting a Apple Watch. Seems there’s more than I thought for choice wise and I’m not sure which is worth the money? Can anyone recommend best one please?

thank you! X

I wanted the functionality of an Apple Watch but with better battery life and also wanted something less sporting looking. I ended up with a Withings scanwatch which I love. It's also a good bit cheaper at around £200

Just popping on to say coros watches have amazing battery life (last over a week), are cheaper than garmins and have loads of different exercise settings on their newest updates.

My Apple Watch was minging too.. I had the holey strap and no matter how much I washed it, or myself it always smelled. I got annoyed with having to charge it in the middle of the day if I did a long run on gps. They really need to sort that out.
