Almost 14 year old feeling awful

My daughter is almost 14 she has had some symptoms for about 2 months dizziness, nausea, feeling cold, feeling faint she actually fainted too. I thought it could be low iron or b12 even though she has a very good diet leafy veg red meat etc. she’s been on multi vitamins around 7 weeks
she has gotten a lot worse over the last week but more so since Friday.
she has a GP appointment for later this afternoon she hates the docs as she was a very sickly child in and out of hospital with her asthma and chest so was prodded and poked a lot.
what could it be the likely suspect is anemia or low b12 despite the vitamins as I know sometimes the one you buy over the counter are not strong enough if the levels are super low

Hey!

Your poor daughter, I hope she is doing okay, dizziness and fainting isn't fun at all, especially if it lasts.
For young teenage girls this is actually somewhat rather common, I myself had a period of time where I felt dizzy and fainted, felt clammy, etc. For me it was a combination of a couple of things:
- hereditary low blood pressure. If i get up too fast, I still get dizzy from this
- anemia, I had stronger periods then and apparently this is often the case for younger girls. You're right, the over the counter supplements often don't cut it if the anemia is severe, there are also infusions available, but I hear they can be painful

Anemia together with low blood pressure isn't fun, but getting the iron levels up sorts it. I always felt better faster if I ate/drank something sugary, ideally a coke, the sugar paired with caffeine does it for me and still does today.

Has your daughter lost a lot of weight recently or is she appearing to be really thirsty? The nausea and dizziness can be connected also to type 1 diabetes, but anemia is way more likely than that, just mentioning it here. Also I don't want to alarm you, but an eating disorder could also show itself like that. You wrote that she eats well, so hopefully it isn't that, but it shouldn't be forgotten.

Good luck with the GP appointment, I really hope it's something like anemia that can be easily treated and that your daughter feels better.
