Alex is everything that’s problematic with “influencers”.
She says she’s reducing the stigma about living in a council house but she’s only really perpetuating the stereotype that single mums who live in them are lazy, entitled,
tit with money grifters who lie and exaggerate their way into social housing at everyone else’s expense.
I noted how her video about getting more exercise on her walking pad, whilst not explicitly saying it, insinuated she wants to change her body. She said she’s not looking at the scales, but she wants to feel happy when she looks in the mirror, which implies that she, as a size 8, thinks she’s too large and is exercising to change her aesthetic. It’s like when she faked needing shapewear to get in her jeans for an ad

It sends all the wrong kinds of messages to young women who are looking up to her.
Pretending her content is about budgeting and helping people, whilst actively advertising non-essential must-have luxury products (that she gets a kick back from when people buy through her links) and then spending her revenue recklessly and boastfully to encourage more wasteful spending. Very budget conscious, relatable behaviour… not.
Being branded a role model of a young mum when she has no routine for her child, lets him sit around all morning in a sodden nappy while she’s making navel-gazing content, lets other people look after him half the week, and just buys him crap all day long.
And now she’s trying to lure in more followers with faux kindness. A “follow me to enter” giveaway is a classic tactic to buy followers and engagement, it’s never truly selfless. If she wanted to do something kind where there wasn’t something in it for her, she’d do it in private, or not ask for anything back. You’re totally right
@lisaaaah, the winner will be another Insta hun so she can mine their followers.
She’s a walking (pad) contradiction.

Damn I wish I’d come up with that for a thread title yesterday.
