I've looked up who was living in my house back then which I've also done for every census going back to 1881

Could be that it’s been transcribed wrong. I took ages to find a relative because it was listed that they were born in Yorkshire in Devon which doesn’t work. It doesn’t even say either of those names when written down so I guess the transcriber was having a bad day!
I believe there is an ancestry thread here but I can’t for the life of me find it?

I’ve bought the image and transcription of something I’ve been waiting for a couple of years to access. The transcription is awful!

Found both paternal grandparents and my maternal grandfather. Maternal grandmother had been born in 1921.

I have bought the images but it doesn't show the address. Just names, ages and occupations. Is there something else I should be looking at?

This is my first time looking at anything like this, so bit in the dark about how it works. But it made me feel happy having seen a bit of personal history.

Yorkshire in Devon 😆

I posted a thread on family trees and got really helpful replies:

I had to buy the transcription aswell to get the address

Have you clicked through all the pages of the document? I've found the addresses on page two if you click on the arrow on the right of the document

Are you guys doing this on ancestry.com?

I have been waiting for this census to come out for years as I got stuck when doing my family tree so if it’s now available on there I’ll be all over this in the morning!!!

It’s only on Find My Past at the moment. You don’t need a subscription, just register and pay £3.50 per census and £2.50 for the transcript.

How did you do this please? I've signed up to Find My Past, but it's saying there's no entries for my village... I'm clearly doing something wrong!

I have only paid for the image at the moment, which is just 1 page.

I also use find my past, I just used the address search function and put in my street name and city. I did have trouble finding my parents rural farmhouse in a village on it though, I think back then it would have been the only house in the area and didn't have a house name or proper address like we use nowadays

I just read a rather poignant post about the census, how so many young men who were on the 1911 one never made the next one because of the Great War, how there was over 700,000 fatherless children. Also that this may be the last one some of us get to look at: the 1931 census was destroyed in a fire in 1942 and the 1941 census never happened because of the war. The 1951 census will be released in 2052, I’ll be in my 70’s then.

Hi, there should actually be 2 images. 1 with the households details and the other contains the address.
if you go back and look at the image you paid for there should be an arrow to the right of the image which takes you to the address page. It should say “next related image”.
There’s little point in buying the transcription if you’ve bought the image.

Ahhh thank you.

I had downloaded them and assumed it was just the 1 page. But you have to download each page separately!

Thank you 😊

This. My great-great grandfather's wife was in the forces, he isn't listed on the 1911 one as presumably he wasn't in the house overnight but by 1921 his wife had gone from married to widowed and I found his military record. He died early in the first world war leaving two children. So sad.
